As the holidays creep closer and closer, I’m reminded that this time is one where things slow down a bit and I’m able to take a little more time than usual to reflect. Blogger Mark Manson wrote an article that hit the nail on the head- it’s about being patient and recognizing that life isn’t a straight line. Most change is gradual, and for an inpatient being like me, painful. It’s been a goal of mine for a long time to focus on the present moment, enjoy it, and learn from it. It’s especially hard during the busy holiday season to keep up with this, but so far so good.
On a lighter note, I’ve been dreaming of this Christmas tree idea by the lovely DesignLoveFest. Fake flowers can be expensive, but this idea can live on year to year. I decided to forego a real tree (or any tree) this year, even though I love the smell of Christmas trees. It just made sense since I won’t be spending a whole lot of time at home this holiday season. The plus side of it is that I’ll be embarking on a few little adventures, and getting to see family and friends I haven’t seen in what feels like forever. A few great “Wanderlust” posts are forthcoming.
Recently, I discovered an awesome website called Society6 dedicated to supporting artists, and printing their artwork on home goods, tee shirts, and high quality prints. They had a really great sale last week and I ended up ordering a new duvet cover for my bed. It’ll be one step in my making my room more cozy for wintertime. The idea of supporting the arts in the process is such a great fringe benefit to the whole thing. The above is by artist Charlotte Winter.
I discovered this wonderful little book on Instagram via @sokoglam called The Little Book of Skincare. It’s both a skincare memoir and resource into the wonderful world of Korean skincare. It serves as a great introduction to anyone who’s interested in the multiple-step skincare regimen and why it really does promote healthier skin. It’s been fueling my continued efforts to better take care of my skin, which has become one of my favorite parts of the beginning and end of each day. It also may have caused another order from Jolse, but that’s neither here nor there.
Hope all of you are enjoying this holiday season- and taking care of your rockin’ selves.
